If used correctly Social Media Marketing can propel your business and change the way you move forward.

In the end, it’s all comes down to planning your marketing strategy and knowing exactly what you are wanting to gain from this exercise.

I have put together 7 points to consider when planning your Social Media Marketing Strategy

1. Set those Goals

Really understand what you are looking to gain from your social media marketing efforts. Set out clear and realistic goals.

Take the SMART route when setting your goals.

Specific - Be very specific in what your expectations are.
Measurable – You need to be able to measure your goals in order to know if your efforts were successful or not.
Achievable – It's fantastic to dream big, but when it comes to your goals keep them within a reasonable expectation level. Keep your goals realistic.
Relevant – Keep your goals relevant to your objectives relating to the campaign.
Timely – Set a realistic deadline for your campaign.

2. Know your Audience

Your efforts will be nothing but effort if you are not directing your message to a targeted audience, who will benefit from your product or services.

A good tip would be to stalk your competitors to identify who they have been targeting.

3. Choose a platform

Now that you have identified your target audience it's important to understand where they get their information from.

Look at where your competitors are hosting their campaigns, Selling directly to consumers? Facebook is your best bet. Targeting a younger audience? Snapchat or Instagram might perform the best.

4. Influencers

Studies indicate that 50% of buyers act upon reviews when making a purchase.

That’s why partnering with the correct influencer would be key to your campaign’s success.

They already have a loyal following that trusts them, so they would be able to showcase your product/service to their direct audience sparking interest and actions.

5. Engagement

You have set your plan into action and you are getting people talking about your business, so now would be an ideal time to chat with your customers via comments, direct messaging. Likes etc. You need to should your potential customers that you are more than just another company, you need to connect with them and build their trust by introducing them to your company culture.

It is a proven fact that people buy from people they trust and know.

6. Measure your results

It’s so important to check up on your campaign and identify what worked and what didn’t so that you can increase in your next campaign.

Followers

Have your number of followers grown over the period? Are your followers actually part of your desired target audience?

Remember that the new users join social media daily – so don’t give up on expanding your reach.

Likes, Shares & Comments

This is a great way of telling if your content that you are sharing is relevant to your audience. If you are not experiencing great numbers, I would suggest that you relook your content and ensure that it is more relevant and engaging.

Clicks and website visits

Has your website traffic increased? This is important as we want the customers to take the next step and get in touch with us so that we can fill that sales funnel.

Leads

Ultimately, this is what we are after so we need to know where our leads have come from and what post achieved the interest.

7. Repeat

It's important to note that Social Media marketing will not change your revenue overnight. You will not wake up the next day with an inbox full of leads.

Social media marketing takes time, especially if you are a new company looking to engage with new customers.

People need to get to know you and what your brand is all about.

Stick with your Social Media efforts and don’t give up… if executed correctly you will soon enjoy the benefits that this marketing platform has to offer.
